Two Board Exams in One year – CBSE Latest News

We all know that how board examinations are important to build a strong foundation in students’ career. Thus earlier students had to rely on a single board examination to define their performance. But after the latest information floated by CBSE Board, students can get a sigh of relief and can now perform better. Two examinations will be carried for the academic session of 2026:

1st Examination: Mid February2026

2nd Examination: May 2026

Basically the 2nd Examination which will be carried on May 2026 will act as an improvement examination. Students who couldn’t perform better in the first examination can improve in the second board examination. This means that students can appear in both the papers and the best score out of the two will be counted in the final board results.

Before we jump to the CBSE New Exam Pattern 2026, let’s discuss about CBSE Board Syllabus 2026 also. There is a myth online that CBSE will going to split the CBSE Syllabus 2026. But in reality there’s no syllabus split. Both examinations are based on complete NCERT curriculum. Just like earlier, the CBSE Syllabus format will remain same. Detailed Marks Distribution Pattern

Theory: 80 Marks

Internal or Practical Assessment: 20 Marks

Total: 100 Marks

To pass in the examination, students need to acquire atleast 33% marks which includes both in theory and internal. Matrix High School follows a continuous assessment system which help to keep a track of every progress and no student falls behind.

CBSE important rules to remember – New Changes 2026

  1. It is mandatory for all the students of Class 10th of Board examinations to appear in the first attempt.
  2. All eligible or passed students in first attempt of the examination will be allowed to appear in second attempt. They can improve their performance in any of the three subjects: Science, Social Science and Mathematics.
  3. If any student has not appeared in the first attempt in 3 or more subjects then he/ she will not be allowed to appear in second attempt of the examination. These students will be put under “Essential Repeat” category and can appear next year for the board examinations.
  4. Any student results in Compartment in the first attempt of Class 10th Board Exam 2026, can appear in second attempt of 10th Board Exam 2026 under Compartment category.

Eligibility of students to appear in Class 10th Board Exam 2026

As there will be two attempts this year in CBSE 10th Board Exam which will put impact in the eligibility criteria too. All the students of Matrix High School must check the eligibility criteria for appearing in 10th Board Exam 2026.

  1. Eligibility to appear in First attempt:
  • Fresh students of Class 10th
  • Essential Repeat of Last Year
  • Second chance Compartment
  • Improvement Examination

Hence, the first Class 10th Board Exam will be the main exam, so it is crucial for every student to fall under the given points of eligibility criteria.

B. Eligibility to appear in Second attempt:

  • Improvement category upto 3 main subjects
  • Either first or Third chance Compartment
  • Improvement for the students passed by the replacement of the subject
  • Improvement as well as Compartment category students

Changes in CBSE 10th Result 2026 Declaration

  1. CBSE 10th Exam 2026 Result of first attempt will be declared in the month of April.
  2. 10th Board Result 2026 of second attempt will be declared in the June month.
  3. Whereas, the Passing certificate of main exam of CBSE 10th Exam will be available on Digilocker. Those students who do not wish to appear in second attempt can use the document to get admission in the class 11.
  4. Following students Merit certificate will only available after the commencement of second attempt of 10th Board Exam 2026.
